Well Ed, I think there are a few ways you could improve it.
Personally I think you have too many colours going on. Try to limit yourself to 3, including the text.
I'm not a fan of background images in general, however some people do like them, so it might just be my preference that is putting me off.
But the biggest thing you need to do is type your posts up in a word processor first, as there are lots of spelling mistakes. You need to remember that you are being marked on all of this content, so you need to treat it with the same care that you would any other piece of written work.
